This series was next in the line-up of Netflix shows. The comedy-drama series Glamorous made its way to the audience on June 22nd of this year! The series tells the story of Marco Mejia, a gender, non-conforming queer person. Marco is a make-up enthusiast, who lands himself on a lifetime gig as an intern for a cosmetics company called Glamorous Cosmetics.
Upon being hired, he meets the CEO, entrepreneur, and founder of Glamorous Cosmetics, Madolyn Addison. According to Madolyn, the company is plummeting to the ground. She believes that the damage is orchestrated from the inside. To find out what is happening, Madolyn hires Marco to be her eyes and ears, to find friends and find out what’s happening behind the scenes, and discover what everyone is hiding and stealing. In exchange for his services, she’ll teach everything she knows. The show garnered much attention for its cast and thematic approaches toward makeup in the show. That does not even include the drama and comedy within the show. There was one example from Madolyn’s line to Marco. “This business isn’t all glitter and glamour and neither is life” that stirred interest for those planning to watch the show.
There are many talents involved in this series. The series was initially created by Jordon Nardino. He had also worked on other shows such as Desperate Housewives, Smash, Gilmore Girls, Threat Matrix, and 10 Things I Hate About You. There’s more, as Damon Kyle Wayans Jr. serves as one of the Executive Producers in the show alongside Jordon and Kameron Tarlow. The show’s cast is also rather interesting. You have Kim Cattrall as Madolyn, Miss Benny as Marco, Jade Payton as Venetia Kelaher, Zane Phillips as Chad Addison, as well as Damian Terriquez, our interviewee as Dizmal.
Here is some information on Damian Terriquez! A non-binary, Mexican-American actor who goes by he/they pronouns, Damian is primarily known for their role in All Rise as Shay. Here are a few more facts about Damian! They had graduated from Woodbury University with a degree in marketing, with a large emphasis on the fashion industry. Here are a few fun facts! Did you know that Damian is fluent in Spanish and French? Did you also know that Damian was an internationally ranked dancer in 2016 and 2017, and they had achieved the top spots? They’re pretty cool, huh?
We first asked Damian what their experience was like as a cover model in the NFM Magazine. Damian states that it was crazy, stating that it was crazy how they received such an opportunity before the show was even released. They recount how when they first received the offer, and mentioned that they received it back in December. Damian answered with a ‘yes’, and after a couple of months of silence, they eventually were able to do the photoshoot around March.
Damian’s team sent over some photographers and makeup/hair artists to look through the supplies. Damian makes a comment stating that they’re still able to be in control of most things. They talk about how easy it is to let things get away from you. With their knowledge from their marketing degree with a focus on fashion, Damian talked about how they’re able to do their styling.
