If you had a chance to pull off the biggest and greatest prank, what would you do? In the film The Prank, high school students Ben and Tanner get this big chance. The Prank premiered at the South By Southwest Film Festival in 2022 and was released in theaters on March 15. We got to FaceTime with Connor Kalopsis, who plays Ben, and Ramona Young, who plays Tanner about their favorite pranks to pull in real life.
Connor: “I feel like the 90s and early 2000s were the peak era of pranks.”
In the film, Ben is an overachiever but needs good grades to earn a scholarship because his mother can’t afford the college tuition. When their physics teacher fails them on a test, Ben and his best friend Tanner falsely accuse the physics teacher of the murder of a missing student on social media. Other castmates include the legendary Rita Moreno who plays Mrs. Wheeler, the physics teacher, as well as Keith David, Kate Flannery, and Meredith Salenger.
You may recognize Ramona from her role as Eleanor on Never Have I Ever, Kaya on Z Nation, or Mona Wu on Legends of Tomorrow. She’s had roles in Man Seeking Woman, The Real O’Neals, and Santa Clarita Diet. Connor is both an actor and producer, known for the series Outmatched and The Grinder.
We asked Ramona and Connor how they would describe each other’s characters in three words and Connor said Ramona’s character can be a slacker, loyal and heart. Ramona described Connor’s as neurotic, perfectionist, and forgiving.

Because of the comedic jokes and pranks in the film, we asked each star which celebrities they would love to prank in real life and Connor said Michael Jackson and Ramona said Oprah.
Ramona: “I would prank Oprah by giving her a free car instead of the other way around.”
