We got to chat with Jordan Doww who stars as a teenage Colton from the 70s to learn more about his audition story, playing a character from another time period, and an update on his original music.
The Way Home is a time travel drama which follows three generations of the strong, independent Landry women who embark on a journey to find their way back to each other. The series is led by a star studded cast including Chyler Leigh (Kat), Andie MacDowell (Del), Jefferson Brown (Colton), and Sadie Laflamme-Snow (Alice).
In season three, viewers will be introduced to a new era when the pond transports Kat and Alice back to 1974, the year Del and Colton met and their epic love story begins.
Jordan is a jack of all trades as an actor, writer, comedian, musician and Internet personality. From the growth of his YouTube following, he was able to turn these passions into a full-time career and his most notable projects include films like Stalked by a Reality Star and Relationship Status. He also has hosted his own sketch comedy series and co-hosted PeopleTV’s The Chatter.
Jordan had an incredible audition story for The Way Home which is a testament to being persistent and learning to gain something from every new experience. He said the most important thing he has learned is to keep putting yourself out there because there is a role that is perfect for you. He was doordashing when he got a call that he booked the role of teenage Colton, and said he binged the show multiple times before heading on to set and fell in love with the storyline.
“It’s not lost on me how lucky I am to have had this land in my lap. This project was a dream come true.”
Teenage Colton is living in the ‘70s and Jordan said playing a character from a different time period was definitely a learning experience. There’s a lot of different lingo and mannerisms, but he loved sporting bell bottoms and longer hair.
“The wardrobe department was incredible on this show.”
You may also know Jordan from his music career, with multiple original songs out, and he said he originally hadn’t realized how music heavy season three was, but got to get in a recording booth to practice his serenade to young Del.
“To act in something and also do music was a dream.”
Speaking of music, Jordan said he began songwriting as a creative outlet he could do on his own and even teased his favorite song he has written is in the works and will be released soon!
“Most of my music is about love, heartbreak and mental health. There is something really healing about it for me.”
For anyone who hasn’t seen The Way Home or is looking for even more of a reason to binge season three, Jordan said the series tackles so many important topics from grief, love, and family bonds and he loved being a part of something that was so important to him.
“My favorite thing about The Way Home is about how healing this show is.”
