In Episode 27 of The Young Entertainment Podcast, Mordechai and Daniella are joined by actress Mya Lowe, who stars as Kiley in My Life with the Walter Boys! We chatted all about Mya’s acting journey, her favorite thing about playing Kiley, her role in Descendants 3, and what to expect in season 3! Mya has always been a performer, as both a dancer and actress. You may also recognize her from Murder in a Small Town, Yellowjackets, and Fakes. Mya’s character Kiley takes on a major role in season 2 of the hit show.
Mya’s favorite thing about Kiley is her calming and grounding presence in season 2, and also her ability to give great advice.
“Kiley keeps a very good head on her shoulders throughout the craziness of season 2.”
We are all for Kiley finding love, and she has seen and heard the slow burn theories with Alex. Mya said she loves reading all these fan theories and is so excited for fans to see where her storyline goes.
In season 2, Kiley and Dylan develop an incredibly close connection, and Mya and Kolton Stewart, who plays Dylan, became great friends off set. Mya revealed she and Kolton actually did a Zoom chemistry read for another project after season 1. While that project didn’t pan out, it set them up perfectly to tap into that relationship this season.
“Me and Kolton both just love the characters so much and love the project so much.”
While all of us fans were watching season 2 on Netflix, Mya and the whole cast were actually filming season 3 at the same time. Mya said it was fun to see people’s reactions to season 2 while filming the new season, and it was also a nice refresher to have. Mya teased that season 3 will have things that have never been done before and feature new ways of filming!!
“I am just so excited for people to see what is happening in season 3.”
We also learned that Mya originally auditioned for the role of Grace, but we are so happy she ended up as Kiley. She said that everyone in the show brought aspects of themselves into the characters.
“Season 3 is not going to feel the same way as other seasons, in a good way.”
In addition to My Life with the Walter Boys, Mya is also a dancer, and even danced on set of Descendants 3. Her dream growing up was to dance in TV and film, and Dove Cameron even inspired her to try acting, and she has since become a double-threat with both!
