Another book adaptation has made for a great summer watch. Five Star Weekend, based on the book of the same name by Elin Hilderbrand, is streaming now on Peacock. We Facetimed exclusively with Harlow Jane who stars as Caroline Shaw in the highly rated series.
Based on the book of the same name, Five Star Weekend follows a beloved food influencer grappling with loss as she hosts four friends from different chapters of her life for a weekend on Nantucket, where hidden truths emerge and relationships evolve. Jennifer Garner stars as Hollis Shaw, and the show also features a star-studded cast of Gemma Chan, D’Arcy Carden, Regina Hall, Chloë Sevigny, and Timothy Olyphant.
“This project was so magical.”
Harlow said she met Jennifer Garner for the first time at the table read, and it was a surreal moment, having loved watching her in 13 Going On 30 growing up. For one of her first major projects, Harlow said Jen set such a great example from the get go of being kind and treating everyone well.
“Jennifer Garner is such a guiding force, she is someone who radiates understanding.”
Harlow said Jen made it a safe space where she didn’t feel like any question was a bad question. Talk about learning from one of the best!
“The better you know your lines, the more you can fully have attention on your scene partner.”
The cast became so close through filming, often playing lots of games on set. Harlow revealed she and Jen played on the same pictionary team together and even got the win over the rest of the cast!
Harlow and Jen’s mother-daughter relationship on screen is a complicated one, and while it was initially intimidating filming those intense scenes, she said Jen created such a safe environment which made that emotional connection between the two that much more deep and seamless.
“From watching Jennifer, I could tell she was someone I could open my heart to.”
We end the interview with a round of rapid fire where Harlow reveals her dream projects and collaborators. Thank you, Harlow, for Facetiming with Young Entertainment! Consider this:
- Don’t be afraid to run lines with your scene partner as many times as you want. It’ll help build that chemistry and confidence in real time.
