Harry Potter Stars Reunite in 20th Anniversary Special, ‘Return to Hogwarts!’

For the first time ever, the cast, crew, and fans are using their Time-Turners to go back two decades to live in the magical world of Harry Potter once more.

The Harry Potter world never really left us, with the spin-off and prequel Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, the Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Studios, and of course the fans’ fire to keep it forever alive. However, there hasn’t been anything quite as special as the reuniting of the iconic trio, Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, and Emma Watson, alongside filmmaker Chris Columbus and other cast members from all eight “Harry Potter” films!

The special will mark twenty years since the first film was released and will tell how the films were made through completely new, in-depth interviews and conversations with the cast, according to HBO Max. Actors Helena Bonham Carter (Bellatrix Lestrange), Robbie Coltrane (Hagrid), Ralph Fiennes (Voldemort) and Gary Oldman (Sirius Black) will be returning for the special day as well.

Others include:

  • Jason Isaacs
  • Ian Hart
  • Imelda Staunton
  • Tom Felton
  • James Phelps
  • Oliver Phelps
  • Mark Williams
  • Bonnie Wright
  • Alfred Enoch
  • Matthew Lewis
  • Evanna Lynch

Hermione herself (Watson) made a long post on Instagram expressing her gratitude and love for her experiences on Harry Potter and promoted the Return to Hogwarts. “I am proud we were kind to each other, that we supported one another, and that we held up something meaningful,” she posted.

Tom Felton, who played archrival Draco Malfoy, posted as well about the return as well stating “is this what school homecoming is like?”

The special will premiere on HBO Max January 1, 2022! As Tom Ascheim, president of Warner Bros. for global kids and young adults said, this TV special will be a tribute to “everyone whose lives were touched by this cultural phenomenon.”

Will we continue to live in this world for as long as possible? Always.
