Hilde Kate Lysiak is the author of Hilde on the Record: Memoir of a Kid Crime Reporter. On Thursday Hilde took over YEM’s Instagram! All by the age of 15 Hilde has interviewed former First Lady Michelle Obama for The National, is the youngest member of the Society of Professional Journalists, has a six-book series with Scholastic and is the inspiration behind AppleTV+ mystery series Home Before Dark. Hilde has shared news stories with the world since she was only seven, and now she’s putting the spotlight on herself in a coming of age story Hilde on the Record: Memoir of a Kid Crime Reporter. Her memoir features discussions with Hilde and her mother and father Matthew Lysiak. He is best known for his investigative reporting for the New York Daily News and comprehensive account of the Sandy Hook tragedy, Newtown: An American Tragedy. Hilde’s memoir discusses topics in a way that’s easy for both tweens to understand, and will provide helpful resources for parents of middle grade readers.
During the Instagram takeover Hilde had fans ask her anything and she answered some great questions! Some of the questions ranged from questions such as “What’s your favorite story you’ve covered in your career” to “Who is your biggest inspiration?” She also answered some other very fun questions. Hilde answered them all with great thought and it was great to be able to learn a little bit more about her.
