The awesome Joseph Gordon-Levitt (50/50, Don Jon) is attached to direct, produce, star in and co-write The Sandman, the long-awaited Neil Gaiman adaptation. The fantasy focuses on a wizard who tries to subdue Death in order to achieve immortality, but instead ensnares Death’s younger brother, Dream. After being trapped in a jar for centuries, Dream escapes and searches for his lost powers.
Australian hunk David Coussins (Neighbours) has been cast opposite Zoey Deutch in Good Kids, a comedy about four overachievers who attempt to redefine themselves in the summer after high school graduation. Nicholas Braun and Israel Broussard (Bling Ring) also star.
Brits Jamie Blackley (If I Stay), Sean Teale (Skins) and Mike Bailey (Skins, UK version) are all part of We Are the Freaks, a comedy centered around three young misfits who go on a wild bender one night, in the midst of social and political turmoil in 1990 England.
Young adult ingénue Emma Roberts will join Kiernan Shipka (Mad Men) in February, a horror film about two girls who are stuck at an all-girls prep school dealing with demon possession, and a third girl who travels across a dangerous landscape to get to them.
X-Man Lucas Till has been cast in The Disappointments Room, a thriller written by Prison Break’s Wentworth Miller about a family who discovers a terrifying secret room in the attic of their charming old house. Till will play a mysterious carpenter. Kate Beckinsale and Mel Raido also star.
Tom Green and Justin Deeley (Geography Club) have joined the cast of Total Frat Movie, based on the popular website of the same name. The comedy follows a college senior’s efforts to reestablish a frat house he inadvertently destroyed during his freshman year. Deeley will play Charlie Kent, the newest recruit to Alpha Chi Gamma, while Green has been cast as the Dean. Rounding out the cast are Rebecca Dalton and Alex House.
As for some Marvel superhero news, it’s been revealed that Sebastian Stan will return in a big way as Bucky Barnes/The Winter Soldier in Captain America 3, after the impressive sequel earlier this year. Apparently, this is only the beginning: the actor announced that he signed a nine picture deal with Marvel Studios. Stan would again join the Captain himself, Chris Evans.
The reboots continue with Vacation, which revisits the Griswolds a generation later. Ed Helms will star as the adult Rusty Griswold, who is now preparing to take his own wife (Christina Applegate) and kids (Amazing Spiderman’s Skyler Gisondo and newcomer Steele Stebbins) on vacay. Chris Hemsworth (Thor) and Charlie Day (It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia) are also in the cast.

Vampires continue to come down the pike in Dead & Beautiful, a fantasy thriller in development about a group of rich party kids in Shanghai who become vampires after a wild night. As they discover their new powers, they begin to suspect one another of unspeakable things. Sounds a lot like The Lost Boys to us!
