In the new film Damsel, Millie Bobby Brown experiences a new upside down as she fights to stay alive trapped in a cave with a dragon. The dark fantasy film was just released on Netflix and we got to chat with Nicole Joseph, who plays Princess Victoria about working with Millie, fun moments on set, her character’s GRWM routine, and more. 

“One thing to take away is be strong, believe in yourself, don’t give up and use the help from others.”

The film was is based on Elodie, a young noblewoman, played by Millie, who agrees to marry a handsome prince, only to discover that his family intends to sacrifice her to repay an ancient debt. Elodie finds herself trapped in a cave of a dragon, and she must rely on her wits and will to survive. In addition to Millie and Nicole, the film stars Angela Bassett, Robin Wright, and Nick Robinson. 

Nicole is a British actress and model and she has had many prior roles including in the British medical drama series Casualty, the thriller film Havoc with Tom Hardy, the drama short Hackney Downs, and the sketch show Ellie and Natasia.

We asked Nicole what she thought Princess Victoria’s GRWM routine would be and she said it would be very detailed, including multiple corsets, stockings, a beautiful gown, and hairpieces to finish. 

Nicole gave us insight into working with Millie and she said she was lovely and very talented, given that she has been acting for a number of years, first gaining recognition from her role as Eleven in Stranger Things. Nicole said she brought good energy on set every day and she even did her own stunts!

“[Millie Bobby Brown] brings a kind of cool essence. In scenes with her, she was really really lovely.”

There are multiple princesses in Damsel and Nicole said she developed close relationships with all of the actors. Even getting together after the filming ended.
