Ellie Goulding – “Dead in the Water” // Finding Carter Season 1 Episode 1

This is one Ellie Goulding’s more heartrending tracks, which plays as the police pull up to break up Carter and Crash’s goodbyes. It’s a perfectly fitting track for the sentimental moment, provided by the multi hyphenate singer-songwriter-instrumenatlist Miss Goulding. Chances are you’ve probably heard the title track from her debut album Lights and her collaborations with Active Child (“Silhouette”) and Calvin Harris (“I Need Your Love”) and maybe some of you caught her recent tour, but here’s a little something to tide you over until she releases her new album … possibly sometime next summer.

Jeffrey James – “We Were Golden” // Finding Carter Season 1 Episode 11

This song is playing as a devastated Carter sits in her room and Bird comes to tell her that Crash has been calling and calling her. Jeffrey James is a rock soul artist, and with this track composed primarily of vocals and keys, he certainly lays emphasis on the soul side of his persona and his powerful voice. The lyrics reflect how wrong things have gone for Carter and Crash. Jeffrey has just released an EP, Im Wide Awake, prior to which he released a 2012 EP Make Your Way to the Flashing Lights that shared a production team with YA Mag favorite Sugar and the Hi Lows and features a radical cover version of the Bee Gees’ “Staying Alive. Here’s a taster of his music below:

Death From Above 1979 – “Trainwreck 1979” // Teen Wolf Season 4 Episode 12

Here’s a spunky track from Death From Above 1979 that accompanies the scene of Braeden driving the gang in preparation for their showdown with the Berserkers. Death From Above are punk rockers from Canada and, like a soap couple, they’ve been off again on again since 2004. Since their 2011 they’ve performed at a handful or prolific festivals such as Wakestock 2013. “Trainwreck 1979” is the first single from their forthcoming album The Physical World. Get it while it’s hot!

Seinabo Say – “Hard Time” // Teen Wolf Season 4 Episode 12

This is the song that’s playing as Peter, Malia and Liam drive through the desert and Liam starts to turn. It’s an individualistic song with a punchy beat and an African rhythm to the deep timbred vocal. Sweden has some pretty interesting music coming out of it these days, and twenty three year old Seinabo Say is no exception. She’s already had chart success in Sweden and Norway, drawing upon her joint Swedish and Gambian roots for inspiration, and she used to be part of a rap group called Death Chronic! Look out for her debut album which is scheduled to come out later this year.

Kyler England – “Eye of Your Storm” // Finding Carter Season 1 Episode 11

Carter and Taylor have a heart to heart about the recent events with Max and share a bonding moment as Kyler England provides the soundtrack. This is a gorgeous arrangement that is a far cry from the other recent work that Kyler has done as the vocalist for Dutch mega DJ Tiesto’s track “Take Me”. She is a self professed EDM enthusiast, whose 2011 album Electric Hum explored the intricacies of the electronica landscape. She’s also had music featured on tons of TV shows includingGreys Anatomy, Vampire Diaries, Private Practice, One Tree Hill, Switched At Birth and on film (The Lucky Ones”) so you’d better get used to hearing her on all your favorite shows!
