YE talks with singer-songwriter Dani Augustt

Singer-songwriter Dani Augustt sat down with Young Entertainment to give us an insider’s look into her music and lyrics, as well as which singers and bands she’s into.

I’d like to think my music is an extension of myself as a person. To me my music is very personal, my music usually correlates with how I’m feeling or how I’m viewing something at the moment. I’m a pretty fun person, at least I like to think so, and I think my music showcases that. My lyrics kinda tell how I view my world. I’m eighteen and I try not to take life too seriously. My music and lyrics show how I’m growing up and what happens to be relevant to my life in that moment. One second I could be freaking out about a boy I’m crushing on and the next I could be singing about going out with my friends. It’s all about telling a story to me. When people listen to my music I want them to be like wow you know what I relate to this girl. I want people to feel like they know me a little bit and form a relationship with me. My music is the most important thing to me and if you listen to it and you like it I already know we could be best friends. When people hear my songs I want them to connect with me.”

“The five songs I’m listening to on my iPod right now? Well my playlist is a little diverse at the moment, the first song I’ve really been jamming to is Infinity by Niykee Heaton, she just always gets me with her lyrics. Then there’s Trap Queen by Fetty Wap, the hood rat in me just had to come out a little. Third is Where Are U Now by Justin Bieber and Jack U, the production is so sick on it. Fourth has to be I’m Gonna Show You Crazy by Bebe Rexha she’s just such a bad chick and I have so much respect for her professionally, and finally the fifth song has to be Post To Be by Chris Brown, Omarion, and Jhene Aiko, that’s THAT song that you just blast in the car and dance like a fool to when it comes on.”
