Episode 40: Stranger Things Volume 1 Recap: Favorite Ships, Plot Twist Ending and Volume 2 Predictions

In episode 40 of The Young Entertainment Podcast, Mordechai and Daniella dive into Volume 1 of the fifth and final season of Stranger Things. We talk through our favorite moments and relationships so far, and also reveal our predictions for Volume 2, set to hit Netflix on Christmas Day.

If you’ve ever wanted a podcast to learn from the stars and get the best masterclass tips and tricks for launching your own career, you’ve come to the right place!

Stranger Things season 5, Volume 1 picks up in Hawkins under military quarantine, with Mike, Steve, Robin, and the gang trying to find Vecna, while Eleven and Hopper train for her final fight. The volume ends with a new terrifying Demogorgon attack, leading to a confrontation between Will and Vecna.

The four episode volume was action packed, and we broke down our favorite moments, including Holly and Karen Wheeler’s fight scene with the Demogorgon, the incredible acting from Jamie Campbell Bower who portrays Vecna, Mr. Whatsit, and Henry Creel, and the captivating filmmaking techniques to capture these tense scenes.

We also had fun connecting the scene of the Hawkins kids “jerry rigging” and planting traps in Derek Turnbow’s house to prepare for the Demogorgon attack to Kevin preparing for the burglars in Home Alone and the Annie and Hallie cabin prank in Parent Trap. So much nostalgia!

Daniella: “The vibe of setting up the house like that in Home Alone or in Parent Trap, it was so fun and so nostalgic.”

There were also so many great relationships that developed even more this season, and our favorite so far is Robin and Will’s friendship. While the two are going through very different things, they can relate to each other on an emotional level and Robin makes Will feel safe. And of course, Hopper and El have provided so many comedic relief and heartwarming moments.

Mordechai: “Robin and Will’s friendship resonated so much this season, it was so intimate.”

We can’t talk about Volume 1 without mentioning that *SPOILER WARNING* last scene, of Will finding his powers and stopping the Demogorgons in their tracks, becoming linked to Vecna and Eleven. We both would love Will to experiment and develop these powers more in Volumes 2 and 3.

Mordechai: “Will is able to let go and become his full potential.”

In Volume 2, Mordechai hopes Lucas and Max’s storyline will be more of a factor, and we all want to see some resolution between Steve and Dustin’s fight! And of course, what would Stranger Things be without another Suzie surprise!

Daniella: “I always enjoy scenes with Hopper and El together.”

We end the episode by playing a rapid fire round of who is most likely to and also reveal what ship we and the fans are hoping to see more of: Mike and Will or Mike and Eleven?!

Mordechai: “I want to see Will use his powers.”
