Episode 47- The Way Home’s Devin Cecchetto shares what to expect from fourth and final season, her first meetup with Jordan Doww, and reacts to Reddit fan threads

In this episode of the Young Entertainment Podcast, Mordechai and Daniella are joined by Devin Cecchetto, who stars as teenage Evelyn Goodwin from The Way Home. The first three seasons are available to stream on Netflix and the fourth and final season comes out April 19 on Hallmark! We chat with Devin about what it’s like having a show on Netflix, the familial cast dynamics on set, and what we can expect from season 4!

If you’ve ever wanted a podcast to learn from the stars and get the best masterclass tips and tricks for launching your own career, you’ve come to the right place!

The Way Home is a time travel drama which follows three generations of the strong, independent Landry women who embark on a journey to find their way back to each other. The series is led by a star studded cast including Chyler Leigh (Kat), Andie MacDowell (Del), Jefferson Brown (Colton), and Sadie Laflamme-Snow (Alice).

In season three, viewers were introduced to a new era where the pond transported Kat and Alice back to 1974, the year Del and Colton met and their epic love story began. The hit Hallmark show hit Netflix late last year and it was renewed for a fourth and final season.

Devin is a rising star in both the singing and acting world, and has already had roles in some of the biggest shows including Netflix’s Wayward and even a cameo in Ginny & Georgia. So when The Way Home landed at Netflix, Devin was no stranger to the streaming service but said it’s still surreal to see herself acting on such a massive platform!

“It’s nice that the show is being seen by all of the U.S., it’s a huge win for us. We have a whole bunch of new audiences.”

To get into character as Evelyn, Devin said she relied a lot on learning about the era the show takes place in… the 70s! She watched a bunch of movies and even created her own playlist.

“Music is super influential and it shares a lot about eras.”

Devin’s character Evelyn shares a deep and long term friendship with Colton, and Devin herself instantly developed a connection with Jordan Doww, who stars as teenage Colton. From the moment the cameras started rolling, to act out that unrequited love Evelyn has for Colton, the two locked eyes and immediately saw eye to eye, getting along super well!

“Jordan Doww and I just saw eye to eye right from the beginning of filming.”

The cast got along so well, and Devin said she learned so much from the legendary Andie MacDowell, who acted as everyone’s mom and biggest supporter on set!

“Andie is amazing and I really look up to her and I’m so grateful I go to work with her.”

While the show’s fourth season was announced as its last, that doesn’t mean that we may never see the Landrys again. And Devin even revealed that because of the show’s nature, the writers wrote the script as they went along, so even the cast weren’t privy to what was happening in the next episode, meaning they got to be fans of the show themselves.

“We are acting each episode with no knowledge of how it ends.”

We then dive into all the Reddit fan threads and questions, and Devin gives us the inside scoop. Does she think Kat and Elliot are endgame? Is The Way Home a love story or a tragedy? Is it a matter of destiny or free will? And who is related to who?!

Devin was such a joy to chat with, and we can’t wait for season 4. Make sure to follow her on her Instagram at @devin_cecchetto.
