The fifth installment of the Indiana Jones franchise is coming, and Phoebe Waller-Bridge is set to co-star opposite Harrison Ford. Ford will be returning to his iconic role as everyone’s favorite fedora-wearing archaeologist, Indiana Jones. The release date for the film is July 29th 2022.
There have been no character details as of yet for Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s character. But she is most notably known for her roles in Fleabag and Solo: A Star Wars Story. In addition to the casting news, it was announced that John Williams will be returning to score the film. Williams has worked on every score in this franchise thus far. Including the legendary theme song which is as iconic to the films as the signature hat and whip. For the first time in the history of the franchise, Steven Speilberg will not be directing the film. James Mangold will be taking over as director for this movie. Steven Spielberg, Kathleen Kennedy, Frank Marshall and Simon Emanue will be serving as producers.
In regards to directing the film, James Mangold states “I’m thrilled to be starting a new adventure, collaborating with a dream team of all-time great filmmakers, Steven, Harrison, Kathy, Frank, and John are all artistic heroes of mine. When you add Phoebe, a dazzling actor, brilliant creative voice and the chemistry she will undoubtedly bring to our set, I can’t help but feel as lucky as Indiana Jones himself.”
We can not wait to hear more announcements about this upcoming installment of Indiana Jones, as its release date gets nearer, and are extremely excited to learn more about Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s character, as well as to hear even more about the cast.
