Since coming to Broadway this past April, The Lost Boys musical has dazzled, thrilled, and captivated audiences. We chatted exclusively with Broadway stars Brian Flores, Sean Grandillo, and Dean Maupin who currently perform in the Tony nominated musical at the Palace Theater in New York City.
The Lost Boys is adapted from the 1987 cult-classic film of the same name and follows the Emerson family as they move to the coastal town of Santa Carla, California, where they soon become entangled in a local gang of teenage vampires and vampire hunters. Brian plays Marko, Sean plays Dwayne, and Dean plays Paul.
Sean: “To be a part of this project that is even larger than our Broadway show was a really cool moment as an actor.”
The show led the 2026 Tony Award nominations with 12 nods, including Best Musical and Best Performance by a Leading Actor in Ali Louis Bourzgui and Leading Actress in Broadway legend Shoshana Bean.
Brian: “It’s been a whirlwind to have audiences respond in such a positive way and to have packed houses each night.”
Sean said it was so exciting to celebrate the Tony noms and it is especially meaningful getting the recognition and support from the Broadway community and their peers.
Dean: “Being able to rock out on stage with these guys is so much fun.”
It has also been great to get support from the incredible crowds. The guys revealed that they’ve seen stars like Lindsay Lohan, Jason Bateman, and even Henry Winkler in the audience!
Each of their characters are unique, whether they are a Lost Boy or a Vampire. Sean said he loves how silly Dwayne is and how at home he felt in this role. Dean, coming from a musical background himself, loved rocking out on stage and Brian said getting to play instruments live every night was so special.
Dean: “I love to work on my own music to decompress ahead of a show night.”
The show is high energy and engaging, and so it is important to the performers to keep their minds and bodies right, especially as they even fly through the air during the show, which Brian revealed took months of training to accustom their voices.
Brian: “To feel comfortable at the heights we were at prepared us well for the show conditions.”
The show is nostalgic and high energy and according to Sean, has the perfect ensemble and behind- the-scenes crew for the project. The trio said if you haven’t seen The Lost Boys yet, it is the one show that really can inspire young performers and make you feel energized, spooked, and above all, entertained.
Sean: “There’s nowhere I would rather be than The Palace Theater.”
