Top 10 Things to Read, Watch & Listen to from September 10th- September 16th

As summer comes to a close and fall creeps up, check out this week’s new releases so you know what music, books, series and movies to look out for!

1) Love at First Sight (September 15th) 

Let’s be honest, isn’t it everyone’s guilty pleasure fantasy to picture a life with that cute person at the gate at the airport? It’s about time someone made that fantasy into a film for all hopeless romantics to live out and Netflix has done just that with Love at First Sight. Main character, Hadley Sullivan (played by Haley Lu Richardson who you may recognize from the 2019 drama Five Feet Apart), misses her original flight from New York to London putting her onto a new plane next to a stranger, Oliver Jones (played by Ben Hardy), who she would spend the next seven hours falling madly in love with. 2) Surviving Summer Season 2 Premiere (September 14th)

What better way to ring in the summer than with the second season of Surviving Summer? In this Australian coming-of-age surf drama, rebellious New York teen, Summer Torres (played by Sky Katz), gets sent to Australia and finds herself immersed in the surf culture. She discovers love and friendships that a city girl could only dream of finding. Join her on September 14th to see what new adventures Summer and her friends go on. 

3) A Haunting in Venice (September 15th) 

Just in time for spooky season, this murder mystery thriller will get you in the spirit for Halloween. A Haunting in Venice will have you on the edge of your seat as you follow one man through a séance and an investigation into the murder of one of its guests. This September 15th, make sure you check in theaters near you for this film from director Kenneth Branagh, who stars in the movie as Hercule Poirot. This film also stars one of Young Entertainments’ favorites, Kyle Allen as Maxime Gerard. 4) Ryan and Avery by David Levithan (September 12th)

This “queer loves story for the ages” is scheduled for expected release on Tuesday September 12th. Author of New York Times bestseller EVERY DAY, David Levithan tells the love story of two young boys Ryan and Avery who fall for each other at a dance. This young adult fiction follows a unique timeline as the couple goes through their first ten dates together. If you are looking to curl up with an emotional love story, Ryan and Avery is the perfect book to have on your radar.

5) Bigger Houses album by Dan + Shay (September 15th)

Country music fans, the wait is over! Dan and Shay’s Bigger Houses album releases September 15th and contains twelve tracks, five of which have already been released and blown us all away. Top songs include the title track “Bigger Houses” and the breakup banger “Save the Trouble”. Dan and Shay have built themselves into a powerhouse country duo with songs that tug on listeners heartstrings. Stay tuned for new music Friday to listen to the whole album.

6) The Meadows by Stephanie Oakes (September 12th)

If you like novels that surround a dystopian society and a lovable heroine, then The Meadows is the next book for you. Author Stephanie Oakes paints a beautiful picture of protagonist Eleanor as she enters a new school called “The Meadows”. However, as the story progresses, Eleanor realizes that the Meadows isn’t everything that she hoped it would be. There are dark secrets buried within the program that Eleanor must bring to light. If you are looking for the next big dystopian tale, look for The Meadows wherever you get your books on September 12th.

7) Silence Between Songs album by Madison Beer (September 15th)

Looking for a new song to sing along to in the shower? Madison Beer’s new album Silence Between Songs drops Friday September 15th! This is Madison’s second album following Life Support which released in 2021. This project has fourteen pop tracks including several already released singles such as “Spinnin’” and “Home to Another One” that are definitely repeat worthy. 

8) RAVAMPED album by Demi Lovato (September 15th) 

Get ready for Demi Lovato’s new album REVAMPED this Friday! This ten-track rock album contains all of Demi’s hit songs from past albums, with a modern Demi twist. Some of these songs include “Heart Attack”, “Confident”, “Skyscraper” and “Give Your Heart a Break”. She also features some additional artists such as the Guns and Roses guitarist “Slash” that help add a hardcore edge. This album has all the classic Demi Lovato tunes that we grew up hearing on Radio Disney, but now they have been ‘revamped’ to match the edgy persona that she has developed over the years. If you remember the old Demi songs, you are definitely going to want to check out these reimagined versions!

9) Camp Hideout (September 15th) 

Looking for a movie to watch with the whole family? If you said yes, Camp Hideout is the perfect option for you! This movie stars Ethan Drew as Noah, a troubled teenager who steals a top-secret item from bad guys in the big city and hides away from them at summer camp. Watch as Noah and his camp counselors Jake and Selena try their best to have a good time at camp without getting caught with stolen goods. 

10) Di4ries Season 2 Premiere (September 14th)

The Italian teen series Di4ries is back for a second season on Netflix and you have to see it! The first season left viewers wanting more and Netflix delivered. The second season release is going to be split into two parts with the first dropping on September 14th, 2023 and the second part in March of 2024. Make sure to tune in to see what adventures these high schoolers go on in season 2.
